Born in 1960 in Lytham St Annes, England, Mark D Vickers showed a very early interest in art from around the age of five. The interest in painting and sketching continued and spent two years in college art room winning the prizes. This made an admission to Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and became a commissioned officer at the age of 19. His first tour of duty was with the Brigade of Gurkhas in Hong Kong between 1980 – 82, after which he has lived and worked in a number of countries around the world.
Nepal has given him tremendous inspiration with its landscapes and people, combined with Mark’s sincerity in following the Buddhist path, and his paintings reflect these two aspects. Mark has tried to capture the splendid landscapes, unique architectural forms of houses and temples, faces of Nepali people and their culture in his canvases with acrylic and water colour mediums. This is his first exhibition.
